24 weeks

Had a doctor appointment on Friday. I got to drink the stuff for the glucose test. Yuck! If I don't hear from them by Wednesday, everything is fine. The doctor said since I didn't have any trouble with my last pregnancy, it was pretty unlikely I would this time, unless I was really high last time but still passed. Baby's heartbeat was 140. Blood pressure was good and I measured where I should. So glad everything is going well. One more four week appointment at 28 weeks, and then I start going every two.
I am already pretty swollen, which I don't remember experiencing this early last time. The doctor said that with the summer being hot, I should just exepct it. I think I am also having a little tingling in my hands and feet at times (carpal tunnel). The doctor said, yes, I probably was, and it would go away about two weeks after I had the baby. Yeah! Sounds like I'll be having a fun summer :)

dance recital

Becky had her dance recital on Wednesday night. It was so much fun to watch her. She looked so cute! We couldn't take pictures on the night of the recital, but here are some from the dress rehearsal the night before. She thought it was pretty neat to get to dance on the stage. Al and I were so proud!

at least there were geese

We decided to get up and go fishing on Saturday morning.  It's cooler out, we've got to catch some fish; right?  No such luck.  We even tried a new lake.  At least there were three different sets of geese and their goslings to watch.  Becky did actually almost catch a fish.  It was hysterical.  It was maybe 3 inches long.  It got ahold of her worm twice while she was reeling in her line.  She screamed and dropped her pole on the ground both times and the little guy got away.  I couldn't stop laughing at her.  It's probably a good thing nobody caught a fish.  I'm not sure what she would do!

The rest of the day on Saturday was pretty busy.  Al cleaned the garage and got the waverunner going. I washed all the windows on the sunporch and the house.  Sunday was church, out to lunch, and then to the new Shrek movie.  All in all, a pretty good weekend.

Oh, and by the way, we posted our waverunner on Craig's List.  We've just simply outgrown it, and I can't ride it this summer.  If you know anyone who is interested, please pass the info along!

fun, busy, nice weekend

We had a pretty fun, busy, yet nice weekend. Becky and I spent a lot of the morning and afternoon on Saturday doing some shopping so Al could write his paper. We had a lot of fun running all over Des Moines. Becky even did a pretty good job keeping up with her mom. Saturday evening we headed down to Mt. Ayr for Kaitlyn and Becca's dance recital. That, too, was fun. They looked so cute and both did a great job.
On Sunday, Becky went to Sunday School. Then we cleaned to house quick to have the Boedings over to watch the Survivor finale. What a great time! The kids actually played down in the basement most of the time and watched a movie while the adults got to actually hear what was going on for the finale. That was nice for a change!

On another note...Becky's dance recital is next week. Tonight was their studio rehersal where she got to wear her costume. She asked me this morning if she got to wear make-up tonight. I told her, no, but that she could next week. Tonight when her dance instructor was telling the girls about what would go on next week, she mentioned that they needed to wear their costumes for the rehersal at the theatre but did not need makeup. My little princess raised her hand and said, "Ms. Jan, why don't we need makeup?" Gotta love her. Told you I had created a monster!

I've created a monster!

Just kidding.  Becky did have her dance pictures yesterday, and I do have to say she thought she looked pretty great.  She said, "Mommy, I love to wear makeup. It makes me feel so pretty."  Can't wait till she's older and really starts wearing makeup.  Scary!

making a silly face

Here she is with a few of the girls in her dance class.

Happy 10 year anniversary to us!

Al and my anniversary was on April 29th.  10 wonderful years together!  I have been meaning to compile some pictures of us and have now gotten around to it.  It's true what they say, the older you get...the faster time goes!  Thanks for putting up with me all these years, Al.  Love Always, Josie

curlers

I decided to curl Becky's hair just for fun. So that's what we did Saturday night after bath before bed.

And here is what it looked like after we fixed it in the morning. Not too bad for our first time. There was really only one piece of hair that fell out wouldn't curl like the rest.

Ta Da!  She thought she was pretty cute, and Al thought it brought out more attitude in her, but it was fun anyway!

20 weeks

Here I am at 20 weeks. Halfway there! I have decided I am not going to consider 4 weeks to be a month this time. That ends up making it 10 months of pregnant! I'm hoping that will help it go quicker. So, that means I am 4 1/2 months along. Had a doctor appointment yesterday. Took Becky and Al to the ultrasound. Becky thought it was pretty neat to see the baby, but she was wanting to see the doctor take it out. The baby was very active. It even did a somersault or two while the ultrasound was being done. So far everything looks really great. No problems detected with the ultrasound at all. Baby's heartbeat was 156. The ultrasound tech asked if we wanted to know the sex, and we said no. It is definitely harder to make that decision when we have the opportunity. (I only had one ultrasound with Becky before you could tell what she was.) We're planning on waiting it out and be surprised. I have been blessed to be feeling very well, other than being tired. My doctor said that's normal and that I should expect it because I have another child to take care of this time around. It's supposed to be more tiring!
P.S. We're an aunt and uncle again! Brenda had a baby boy, Boone Eugene, on April 28. Check out their blog to see pictures. I think he looks a lot like Bode did when he was born. Everyone seems to be doing well. I don't know if we're going to make it down to Florida to see him before they come to Iowa for a visit, but either way, we sure can't wait to meet him!

wedding

Two weekends ago we attended our last friend wedding, for a while, anyway, in Remsen, Iowa. We had a blast. It was great to hang out and party with everyone. Here is a pic of the girls, minus the Bride Rachel and Matron of Honor Angie (Harvey.) They had better things to do than hang out in the bar area, I guess!
