fun in Mt. Ayr

On Saturday night we went down to Mt. Ayr to Aunt Ginny's to have a cookout.  Becky and Becca had fun playing in the pool.  It was hot!

We even stayed late enough to do some sparklers.  Al and I both reminded Becky of last year when she got burned, so she was pretty scared.  She tried to enjoy it though.
Here she is finally doing one, but she was terrified the sparks were going to get her, and I snapped this picture right before her dad rescued her and took over.
Here are Kaitlyn and Becca doing their sparklers.  They're pros by now!
We had a great time.  It was nice to see my family and spend some time with them.

The Stewarts visit from Florida!

Brenda, Stew, Bode, and Boone flew into Des Moines on Friday.  We got to spend some time with Brenda and the kids on Friday night.  Becky was so happy to see Bode.  They had a blast playing at the swimming pool at the hotel, eating at McDonald's, and playing at the park.  Here are a few highlights.

I even let Al have a turn!

Grandpa and Grandma and their grandkids.  Pretty decent picture for as tired as they were from all the running!

I know Becky would have loved to hold Boone as she kept walking up to him and touching him and making sure he was okay.  However, she was so excited to see Bode and play with him that there was absolutely no time to take a break and sit down!

Urbandale pool

On one of the hot days last week, Becky and I decided to go swimming with Emma and Sarah at the Urbandale pool.  They have a great wading pool for the younger kids.  Since I can't go down the waterslide with Becky this summer, I figured this was a better pool to go to.  As you can see, Becky had no fun at all!

Emma - not quite as brave as Becky, but she will be before long!
You know the pool is a success when you have to threaten your child with, "If you ever want to come back to this pool again, we need to leave right now."  I have to say it worked like a charm and she had so much fun that she wanted to go swimming with Emma every night the rest of the week.

28 weeks

Had a doctor appointment on Friday.  One of those short and sweet ones.  My blood pressure was good.  My glucose came back great the time before.  I measured right on.  I was happy with the minimal weight gain.  Baby Johnson's heartbeat was 130 to 140.  According to the old wives' tale, there's a pretty good chance it's a boy!  I told Al we had better agree on a name just in case.  We'll have to get busy on that.  No luck in the boy name department yet.  Feel free to leave suggestions that you wouldn't mind us using.  We're open!

weekend update

Had a nice, busy weekend with friends.  Brian (Jizz) and Sarah and their two kids stayed with us Friday night and we met up with Adam and Steph and their kids at the Autism Walk.  We all went out for lunch and and then back to the hotel to swim.  Al worked Saturday night and Becky and I went to Sami's house (Megan Hague's little girl) to watch her.  This morning was church at 11 so Becky could sing VBS songs and potluck.  We just got home from a game of bowling and an early dinner to celebrate Father's Day.  Looking forward to a somewhat quieter week this week.  Becky and I stayed busy with VBS Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 7:30 last week.  I got to help be Becky's teacher.  We had a ton of fun, but it sure wore us both out!   Hope everyone is having a nice Father's Day.

Monte's visit

Al's dad came to visit for a day last weekend.  We had a very nice visit.  It ended up being fabulous weather, so we headed to the zoo for the afternoon and then to Joe's Crab Shack for dinner.  Thanks, Monte, for coming to see us!

pool fun

Here are Becky and Emma hanging out in Grandpa and Grandma's "heated" pool.
making silly faces
riding bikes
and trikes
having a popsicle right before bed
So much fun to be at Grandma and Grandpa's!

miniature golfing

Here are some pics from Becky's first miniature golf outing at Treasure Village at the Lakes.  I think she had fun for the most part, even though she didn't get it just quite yet.

Daddy helping her try to get the hang of it.  He was so patient with her.  It was really fun to watch!

kite flying

Becky got two chances to fly her kite while we were in Spencer.  So much fun!
