Labor Day Weekend

We headed to Spencer Labor Day weekend because we knew we were going to be having a lot of packing to do the next few weeks.  As you can see, it wasn't any fun at all!

We headed back to Des Moines on Sunday after a stop to visit Granmda Willie in Peterson.  On Monday, we decided to use up those Adventureland tickets, as we are going to be out of time to do that as well.  Colby looks pretty scared here, but he loved the airplanes.  He even rode in them a couple times by himself and loved moving it up and down.  He was probably upset here because he knew he didn't get to make it go up and down sitting behind his sister!

Becky was a trouper to ride some rides with her little brother.  She also got to ride the big rides with Mom and Dad taking turns.  The kids are soaked from the Log Ride. Colby did not like it one bit.  Becky and Al sat in front and got drenched.  Becky thought it was great!

Colby fell asleep in his stroller, so I walked around the park to help him stay asleep while Al and Becky hit up the water park.

Al got to ride the wagons while Becky and I rode The Outlaw

Big boy all by himself.  He loved it.  He even stayed on and rode twice in a row!
And that was our Labor Day weekend.  Now it's probably no more pictures or posts until after we get settled in the new house.  Wish us luck! (well maybe I'll get a couple of Colby on his birthday.  Can't bellieve he's going to be two on Thursday!)

state fair and first day of school

Becky danced at the fair on the first Sunday.  She looked and did great, as usual!
I didn't get to take too many pictures that day, as about two minutes after I took this one, Becky wanted me to take a picture of the two of us.  So I tried.  It slipped out of my hands, bounced on the concrete and then fell off the drop off onto more concrete. I was so sick about it.  What are you going to do?  The battery compartment got damaged.  I did manage to hold it and take a few more photos, but it was definitely not ideal.  We didn't stay super long at the fair, as Al and I were meeting our realtor in the afternoon to go look at houses.  We just walked around to some of the animal barns.  Colby loved the cows!

Here are Becky and Colby.  Aren't they adorable?

Here is Becky on the first day of school.  She looks so grown up as a first grader!

Here she is with her new teacher. It's going to be a good year!
And then...just in case you haven't heard, yes we did by a house.  We close on September 24th and are ovewhelmed by all the packing we have to do. Every time we try to pack a box, Becky says she wants it or need it or someone cries or is hungry.  Ugh!  I did manage to finish a scrapbook I have been wanting to for a year and then packed it all up.  No more scrapbooking distractions for me until we get moved! We did get a few boxes packed this weekend.   It sure is a good thing we have two more before we have to be out of here though.  It's a slow-going process.  But one I welcome for sure.  I am so glad to be moving to a bigger house with an actual backyard the kids can play in. (and I'm kind of excited about the kids having their own bathroom too!)
